Grounds and Maintenance Assistant - Kin House

Overview
Kin House is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and proactive Gardens & Maintenance Assistant to ensure the grounds, gardens, and buildings of our estate are well-maintained, safe, and presented to the highest standard. This is a hands-on role requiring a blend of gardening knowledge and general maintenance skills to support the smooth day-to-day operation of the estate.
Responsibilities
Gardening Duties:
Maintain all gardens, lawns, flowerbeds, trees, and shrubbery to a high standard.
Carry out seasonal planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching as needed.
Operate and maintain garden tools, mowers, strimmer’s etc.
Monitor plant health.
Ensure pathways, patios, and outdoor spaces are clean, safe, and tidy at all times.
Support landscaping projects or garden redesigns as instructed.
Assist team in ensuring the site looks fresh each day before guests attend site with no sign of previous day’s activities.
Maintenance Duties:
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on buildings, fixtures, and fittings.
Inspect and maintain plumbing, lighting, heating, and ventilation systems where appropriate.
Carry out painting, carpentry, and basic repairs across the estate.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and log all completed tasks.
Monitor and report any health & safety risks or damage to the Estate Manager.
Assist with setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events or venue use.
Keeping up to date with Compliance Fire alarm testing, Emergency light testing & Legionella testing.
Health & Safety:
Work in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and site risk assessments.
Use tools, equipment, and chemicals safely and store them appropriately.
Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in groundskeeping, gardening, or general maintenance (required).
Basic knowledge of plant care, seasonal garden tasks, and garden machinery.
Competent in basic plumbing, electrics, carpentry and general maintenance tasks.
A proactive attitude with good time management and communication skills.
Full UK driving licence (preferred).
Additional information:
Uniform and tools provided.
Weekend work required, particularly during events or peak seasons.
28 days annual leave including bank holidays
Contract Type: Full-time
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Sunday 5 in 7.
